Sebastian Eggert, MD is a Swiss board-certified forensic pathologist and Deputy Head of the Division of Forensic Pathology at the Institute for Forensic Medicine of the University of Zurich. 2003 he graduated at the University of Goettingen, Germany. He obtained his doctorate in 2011. From 2005 to 2008 he worked at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the University of Basel. Between 2008 and 2010 he practiced at the Mexico City”s Forensic Medical Service and from 2010 to 2012 he worked at the Institute of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Cantonal Hospital of Grisons. Since 2012 he is working at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Zurich and obtained the board certification as a specialist in forensic pathology. In 2014 he made a further education in Radiology, main focus on computed tomography, at the Institute of Radiology, Cantonal Hospital Baden. Since 2015 he is a team member of the Virtopsy group. His main scientific interest covers post mortem imaging of gunshot victims and phantom elaboration in computed tomography. He is member of the Swiss Society of Legal Medicine (SGRM).
