In 2001, Dominic Gascho earned his high school diploma in Austria, majoring in natural sciences. From 2001 to 2004 he worked as paramedic and became a certified Emergency Medical Technician. After two years of employment at the University Hospital Salzburg, he started his studies in Radiology Technology at the Medical-Technical Academy of the University Hospital Salzburg in 2006 and graduated with diploma in 2009. He then moved to Switzerland and worked as a radiology technologist at the Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich from 2009 to 2012, where, in addition to conventional X-ray imaging, he already specialized in computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Dominic Gascho finally joined the Virtopsy team in the fall of 2012, where he holds the position as Manager of Medical-Technical Radiology since 2018. In 2018 he also obtained the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Forensic Imaging and Virtopsy and in 2019 he attended the International Wound Ballistics Workshop at the University of Bern. From 2020 to 2022, he studied medical physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) with a specialization in bioimaging and an optional add-on in biomechanics, earning a Master of Advanced Studies ETH in Medical Physics in 2022. Dominic Gascho does research in forensic and postmortem imaging technology including computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and optical imaging (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9004-4362). He is Editorial Board Member of Forensic Sciences (EISSN 2673-6756), International Consulting Editor of Medicine Science and the Law (ISSN: 0025-8024), and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Radiology (EISSN 2673-8740). He is a full member of the British Academy of Forensic Sciences and a full member of the International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging.
